Retention analysis on a level 1 site scope
The retention analysis provides a very interesting perspective into how and when your visitors or users return to your brand's various websites and applications following a visit made on a given day. Using this analysis you will be able to instantly visualise the proportion of visitors that have returned to your site and in which timeframe.
The retention analysis is available for the following timeframes:

Example: With the following retention analysis:
The results should be read in the following way:
(1) 450 users visited the website on the 26th of October
(2) 28% users returned on the following day
(3) 25.1%% users returned 6 days later
Example: If T is the date shown in the column “Date”. The ratio show in box T+1 is calculated in the following way:
The users that visited your level 1 site on date T+1 from those that visited the level 1 site on date T Divided by the users that visited your level 1 site at date T.
Retention analysis on a level 2 site scope
The retention analysis functions slightly differently when using a level 2 site scope.
Indeed, the level 1 site is used as the reference for the calculation of the ratios. Therefore, if T is the date shown in the column “Date” the calculation for the ratio in box T+1 is the following:
The users that visited your level 2 site on date T+1 of the users that visited the level 1 site on date T divided by the users that visited your level 2 site at date T.
Example: With the following retention analysis on a level 2 scope:
The retention of 7.12% in box (1) can be explained in the following way:
2,630 users visited the overall level 1 site on 12/03/2021 (not shown in the screenshot)
1,264 users (2) visited the specific level 2 site 12/03/2021.
As the level 1 site is the point of reference, of the 2,630 users that visited the overall level 1 site on 12/03/2021, 90 came back on 14/03/2021 and visited the level 2 site (DAY+2).
The calculation for the ratio is therefore 90 users / 1264 users = 7.12%.
